Lovely Women of Australia

 I looked behind me at church and saw all of these beautiful women sitting.  After Sacrament Meeting I just had to take a picture of them.  They are Mothers and their daughters.  The woman on the far left is Sally Tognia (Bishop's wife) with her daughters who are the first two young women.  I don't know the others. The thought came to be that these are beautiful women who are serving God through the Generations.  Most of the people in our wards are from the Islands.  They always greet each other with a hug and a kiss.  Most Australians have that as their custom also!  Such a Lovely Tradition!

At this meeting the Sisters and the Elders talk about their goals & make new goals. 

We always stand up at the first of the meeting and say what our mission is. This is our mission -

receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost,

5 Our First Baptism in Australia

 

Rangi was baptized on May 1, 2022.  It was also her 20 Birthday and her Grandma's 70th Birthday

The Story of Hugh.  I saw him walk into church about 10:30 a.m.  He had on a green t-shirt and khaki pants.  I thought, "He must not have wanted to get dressed up today."  He was walking around just looking.  This sister missionaries saw him and greeted him.  He stayed for the youth class in Camira Ward and in the other ward also.  He asked his mom if he could go to the baptism that night.  She said yes.  She brought him and she stayed in the car park - parking lot.  He came to the baptism and had a great time as you can see.  I asked him why he came in and he said, "I was curious."

5 Cleaning Up

 One of our assignments in a couple of months will be to check and make sure the Junior Missionaries are keeping their apartments, cars, and yards clean and tidy!  I went with Elder and Sister Jones to see if the junior missionaries have everything tidy!

Here are Elder Bennett & I, Elder & Sister Jones, Sister Lange & Sister Mailei.  Their apartment, car, and yard were clean and tidy!

This is a picture of their garage door!  Isn't it amazing??? 

 It leaves more room for the roof to be used in another way. 

 It just rolls up!  I have never seen anything like it!  

Only in Australia!!!!!

5-ANZAC DAY 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

Celebrating ANZAC DAY in Australia! It means Australia New Zealand Army Corps.  It is a remembrance of a  World War I campaign when they invaded Turkey. It was a pivotal military strike in the war.. Over 8000 Australians died and over 2000 New Zealanders died.

They started out with a parade of veterans with all of their awards pinned to their suits. And then there were children from many schools who also participated. Also current members of the military.

It was so beautiful and very reverent. 

Soldiers marched over to the flag and one stood right in front of it and stayed there and protected it through the whole ceremony. 

There was an orchestra, band, and choir. 

They sang - Abide with Me- 

The Lord is my Shepherd was read The Telling of the Tale of invading Turkey was related. 

A Local Pastor gave a Prayer -

A great feeling of gratefulness to God for their country and to those men who have died for them!

The Australian 🇦🇺 and New Zealand 🇳🇿 national anthem was played and sung. 

I was given an ‘Anzac biscuit’ to eat. In America we would call it an oatmeal cookie.   Ingredients are Rolled oats, flour, sugar, butter, and golden syrup. It has been claimed that biscuits were sent by wives and women's groups to soldiers abroad because the ingredients do not spoil easily and the biscuits kept well during naval transportation.

A famous dessert was also sold at the event. Yummy Lamingtons. In the picture of Barry he is holding some.

At the end of the ceremony people then laid their wreaths to honor the dead at the foot of the Australian flag. 

Also a dog in one of the videos is wearing a purple cover.

It was amazing! I could feel the patriotism and the gratefulness these people felt for those who had died for them and their country!  What a wonderful day!

5-Zone P-Day Activity-Hercules Park

Zone P-Day Activity at Hercules Park! Played games and ate Traditional Australia sausages with fried onions on a piece of plain bread with ketchup or barbecue sauce.  They were very yummy! I want you to notice what they are cooking on. There are two cooker stoves that are placed in the park for anyone to use. Isn’t that great?  

Plus we had candy melon, grapes 🍇 , Mandarins 🍊, and apples 🍎.  We also had a lovely salad! They met their goals above and beyond and so they were rewarded with an activity.  These missionaries are very wonderful!  They are so spiritual, listen to the spirit, obey the rules, and they also know how to have fun! It was a great day! 🤾‍♀️🤾‍♂️❤️🤾‍♀️🤾‍♂️🍣🍇🍊🍎🍊🍇🍣🤾‍♂️🤾‍♀️❤️🤾‍♂️🤾‍♀️

In Australia they have a "Sausage Sizzle" not a Sausage Barbecue. 

 Although a Barbecue is still called a Barbi.  

And of course with Sausage you must have fried onions!  

And then you put that goodness onto a BIG SLICE OF WHITE BREAD!  

Their bread slices are HUGE!!!  And don't forget the Barbecue Sauce!

A really great thing Australia has is its handy barbecue at the parks.  

They are free to use but First Come, First Serve!  

They are just a plain stainless steel slab that you can cook on.  

Easy clean-up!
